The Hot Deal On Clean Heat, upgrade to clean heat with an interest-free loan

Rotorua has the worst air quality in the North Island, caused mainly by domestic fires. To help clean it up Bay of Plenty Regional Council is offering the Hot Swap Loan, an interest free loan, up to $4,000, paid off over 10 years, to replace old wood burners and open fires with a clean heat appliance.

Hot Deal on Clean Heat

The Hot Deal on Clean Heat is a Home Heating Assessment and loan offered to Rotorua Ratepayers in the loan zone to convert old wood burners and open fires to a clean heat appliance.

A clean heat appliance is an energy star heat pump, AGA rated flued gas heater, pellet fire or approved wood burner. More information on your clean heat options can be found on our Clean Heat Options Fact Sheet.

A Home Heating Assessment is essential as it assesses what the best clean heat appliance is for your home and your situation. It will help you match the right clean heat appliance for the needs of your household and your budget.

The Service Provider will talk you through the process when they complete your Home Heating Assessment.

Bay of Plenty Regional Council strongly recommends you get at least two quotes and that you dont make any decisions on what type of clean heat appliance you want until you get a home heating assessment.

New products have been added to the Bay of Plenty Regional Council's Hot Swap scheme.

We now have three retailers offering insert wetback fires under the scheme; Rotorua Heating Solutions, Steve's Plumbing and The Fireman.

Rotorua regularly exceeds the safe and acceptable standard for air quality in winter, as set by the Ministry for Environment. The main cause of our poor air quality is home heating. The most vulnerable to the adverse health affects of our air pollution are the very young, the elderly and those who already suffer form respiratory conditions like asthma.
